I'm currently watching a batch of Dr Kildare movies filmed in the 1930s in the middle of the Depression and so much of what is going on with doctors and poor people I fear may occur again now that the Gross Old Party has complete control of the government. What's also scary is that while this was going on here in the US over in Germany the Nazis were gaining control of Germany

Dr Kildare has been going that long? :O I only remember people watching it in the 1960s.

It is very scary how what goes around comes around. :(

Dr Kildare was first played by Joel McCrea in "Internes Can't Take Money" in 1937, based on a short story of the same name by Max Brand. Later Lew Ayres starred in 9 Dr Kildare movies with Lionel Barrymore as Dr. Gillespie then Dr Gillespie had 6 movies of his own with the last in 1947. As I wrote I've been watching some of the Lew Ayres movies and they are more like a mini-series as there are parts that connect them all. I've read that there also was a radio series too.

The TV series with Richard Chamberlain started in 1961 and IIRC I watched the TV series before seeing the movies on TV way back then.

How interesting. You really are a fount of information when it comes to the telly. I remember Richard Chamberlain and then he was in Thornbirds. I didn't watch either of those but I remember they were BIG. :)
