Amazing Fungi

I got a book called "Entangled Life: How Fungi Make Our Worlds, Change Our Minds & Shape Our Futures" by Merlin Sheldrake from the library. I have not known much about fungi so I was amazed at what it might have done and might do. What made me want to tell people at first was that there was a man named Paul Stamets who was into knowing about the fungus and caused the people in the current Star Trek to have a character who uses fungi to develop powerful technologies. Earlier it was written that millennia ago perhaps eating psilocybin mushrooms (produced by fungi) caused spiritualities and mushrooms were the original tree of knowledge. Also that we started eating yeast around 12,000 years ago which may have caused people to give up their nomadic-lifestyle and settle into sedentary societies as yeasts were the primary beneficiaries of humans' earliest agricultural efforts. And finally, in 1938, Alexander Fleming discovered that a mold produced a bacteria-killing chemical called penicillin. I wonder if some fungi are now helping the vaccines to save us from the coronavirus.
